First Annual Spike Art Contest
Calling all rail fans and artists! We invite you to enter into our first ever art contest! Take any rail spike and decorate, paint, weld, solder, bend, twist, or use any other art media you choose to convey one of three themes:
- Railroading in Alaska
- The Tanana Valley Railroad
- The Golden Heart of Alaska
Anyone can participate and enter their spikes for a chance to win some amazing prizes! For official rules and overviews, as well as the entry form, please see below.

Museum Open House
Join us for our Spring 2019 Open House and visit with the crew as they show you around the museum and in the shop. Go behind the scenes and see inside a steam locomotive, what it takes to run Engine No. 1, and get a look at many of the historic items that are being pulled out of the records room for you to see!
Are you interested in trains and want to learn more about them? Do you want to learn more about our operations and possibly volunteer and become a member? This is a great opportunity to learn more about all of these!
